Jardiland and Gamm vert lose significant turnover

Aug 11, 2024
The garden centre and pet trade division of French retail group Teract has reported a 5.3 per cent drop in turnover for the 2023/2024 financial year (ending 30 June). The divisions affected are Jardiland, Gamm vert (including Frais d'Ici), Delbard, Jardineries du Terroir and Noé, la maison des animaux. They generated total sales of 766 mio euro. On a like-for-like basis, sales were down 3.3 per cent.

Business performance deteriorated over the course of the year. In the second half of the year, i.e. from January to June, sales were 6.4 per cent down on the same period last year, while like-for-like sales were down 3.6 per cent. Teract cited the exceptionally unfavourable weather as one of the reasons. According to the Promojardin-Promanimal trade association, the French garden market as a whole contracted by 3.6 per cent in the first half of the year.

By the middle of the year, Teract's garden and pet store sales lines comprised 1 545 stores. This included 173 Jardiland garden centres and 1 125 Gamm vert locations.
